How do I care for SBROUT® through the years?

SBROUT® is made using solid and sturdy rubber wood. By itself, it is very durable and easy to maintain. Please use the SBROUT® for it's intended functions for it to last. Clean it with just a wet and then a dry cloth will easily dust off any surface dirt. Any surface wear and tear or scratches are inevitable, but they should not compromise the furniture's sturdiness.

Why SBROUT® will never grow out of its uses?

Parents are so afraid of getting their baby crib / cot and having them as a "white elephant" in the house after their baby outgrows it.

With SBROUT® , we can proudly say that it will last you until it last you! We made SBROUT® Sleep Habitat system beyond just the function of sleeping! It's too boring to keep using the same piece of furniture to sleep on for too many years! We know that!

So, after your baby has outgrown their Cot Sleeping function, transform it and excite them with their play cart or their study table and chair. And as they grow, use it as their book shelf or even bedside table. After this, you can finally transform it into your family adult chair. Your baby furniture becomes your family furniture! It last you until it lasts!

What is a Baby Box?

The baby box has been a Finnish tradition for 90 years. First thought to have contributed to the decline in SIDS in Finland, but subsequently brought about a resounding trend amongst working women with notions of helping them kickstart motherhood in their busy lifestyles. This is a well-known gift by the Finnish government to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as a baby gift on the birth of Prince George, their eldest son. Currently, this trend has become immensely popular in the western culture and is now a birth gift by the government in Finland, UK and Scotland. The current baby box is made of cardboard boxes with a foam mattress and may come in contents inclusive of infant clothes and motherhood guides.

What are Muslins?

Muslins are finely woven, lightweight and breathable cotton. Muslins are used for babies as a swaddle, swaddle blanket, bib, an impromptu changing mat, shoulder burp cloth or as a bath wash cloth.

You can also use muslin cloth around the home as a gentle skin exfoliating cloth.

At KIKI & SEBBY®, our muslins are made of finest materials - our cotton is made of extra-long staple cotton and our bamboo is all natural and made responsibly. When we say "made responsibly", we mean other than being safe and non-toxic, our manufacturing process is also safe to the workers who produce it.

What are the benefits of Bamboo Fibre?

Bamboo fabric is incredibly soft on baby’s sensitive skin. As a swaddle fabric or blanket, the benefits include:

- anti bacterial and anti fungal
- breathable
- hypoallergenic
- thermoregulating
- hypo allergenic

At KIKI & SEBBY®, we use only pure bamboo fibre as our raw material with gentle manufacturing process to retain the core properties of our bamboo fabrics which are safe for babies, the workers and manufacturing environment.

Together with our extra-long staple cotton, our bamboo fabrics are specially engineered to get the softest combination and yet retain sufficient elasticity for swaddling and further uses.

Why is our Bamboo Cotton Muslin Collection different?

Bamboo Cotton Muslin Collection is our luxurious range made of 50% extra-long staple (ELS) cotton and 50% natural bamboo. This carefully chosen combination ensures we get the plush and softness and yet retain the elasticity we need for swaddling purposes.

There are other types of bamboo materials like Bamboo Viscose or Bamboo Rayon, but these are not natural bamboo fibre. With natural bamboo fibre, it will not be suitable for the skin if the specification is said to be using 100% Bamboo because the texture will be too rough. We label our products responsibly and do not mislead our customers.

Why are we using extra-long staple (ELS) cotton given it’s higher cost?

Extra-long staple (ELS) cotton is considered the highest quality cotton with the best lustre and unrivalled softness - hence the most expensive of all cotton produce. We use extra-long staple (ELS) cotton fiber in our Muslin Collection to give it the luxurious softness and durability. Until you feel it with another material, will you know the difference. It provides a higher level of comfort for the baby with our Muslin wrapping over their skin.

Why is safety certification for baby’s sleeping bags important?

Science has shown the multiple benefits of a baby's quality of sleep to their growth and development.

A baby sleeping bag is a blanket that is designed to be wearable and creates a safe sleeping environment for the little one. It helps to prevent the child from kicking off their covers, which effectively becomes a risk for suffocation and helps to maintain a constant temperature throughout the sleep duration, which helps to stabilise sleep. Hence, baby sleeping bags have been gaining popularity as a parenting essential to create a safe sleeping haven for the little ones.

Whilst sleeping bag certification is not mandatory, it gives a safeguard for consumers that the sleeping bag they are buying has been assured and tested for safety, which includes the TOG rating, design, neck opening, size and accessories on the sleeping bag - each of which may have hazards posing a risk of suffocation to the child.

Recent surveys and tests by which.co.uk have shown that most of the sleeping bags in the market have not passed the required safety standards. The safety problems uncovered included neck openings too wide, which could lead to a baby slipping into the bag and suffocating. We also found inaccurate TOG ratings that could lead to a baby seriously overheating. And many bags simply didn't provide key safety information in the instructions. (abstracted from which.co.uk)

Does KIKI & SEBBY® sleeping bags have safety certification?

Our sleeping bags are tested against BS EN 16781:2018

The tests and certification ensures the following are met in accordance to stringent safety standards :
  • General design characteristics
  • Neck openings
  • Press fasteners/buttons
  • Slide fasteners
  • Touch and close fasteners
  • Threads
  • Labels – if attached
  • Embellishments
  • Filling materials
  • Entrapment of fingers/toes
  • Small part aspiration or ingestion
  • Cutting/puncture/abrasion
  • Chemical Hazards (EN71)
  • TOG test
  • Fire hazards
  • Hygiene hazards
  • Colourfastness to water

What is the temperature for the various TOG ratings?

A TOG rating is crucial to help picking the level of thickness required for the child’s sleeping bag to help them stay at a comfortable temperature for their sleep. The higher the tog, the thicker the sleeping bag.

This is an important factor as a baby cannot at this stage regulate their own temperature and if they have an inappropriate TOG for their sleeping bag - they will either be too chilly or overheat, the latter being a known cause of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

To choose the TOG rating of your sleeping bag, correlate the TOG rating in accordance to the room temperature. Below is a useful guide of suitable TOG rating for the room temperature.
- 24°c or higher = 0.2 TOG
- 20°c - 24°c = 1 TOG
- 14°c - 20°c = 2.5 TOG
- Below 16°c = 3.5 TOG

The ideal temperature of your little ones sleeping environment should be around 16°c to 20°c.
